CarbMate - the cost-effective carburettor / throttle valve synchroniser.

CarbMate displays the difference in vacuum intake settings of two linked carburettors on a single transverse "East-West" 9 LED display. Visual estimation errors, common to the traditional approach of comparing individual values on separate mercury columns or dial gauges, are eliminated as two pressures are compared and one value is displayed. A ZERO adjustment knob provides easy & quick pre-calibration prior to synchronizing. Without any tubes connected, simply adjust the knob until the centre LED is on.

During calibration resolution can be adjusted from 2cmHg (centimetres of mercury) down to 0.5cmHg to allow the user to fine tune. Most vehicle O.E.s specify a resolution of 0.5cmHg for accurate synchronizing and CarbMate is the only low cost alternative able to meet the standard.  Where different vacuum intake values are required for each carburettor, such as with some Mercury/Mariner and Yamaha 4-stroke outboards, the exact positive or negative difference between two carburettors can be read off the "differential" scale, which is calibrated from - to + 4. (With resolution at 2cmHg the display difference spans from – to +8cmHg; with resolution at 0,5cmHg, the span becomes – to + 2cmHg)

A single green LED at the dead-centre "happy face" mark indicates that the compared manifold vacuums are equal to within the selected resolution.   Synchronisation of 4 linked carburettors or throttle valves can be carried out using the optional 4-channel adapter kit.   Power is provided from the vehicle battery or an external 12V battery via a 2-metre (6½ ft) power cable with large crocodile clips.

Threaded connection adapters in all-metal are available optionally. As an alternative, also available as an option are the unique "flexi-rigid" style as used on the VacuumMate, which allow easier connection to difficult to reach manifold points.
