We have been their sole UK importer since day 1 and have achieved phenomenal success with TecMate’s battery chargers and other specialist tools, having sold well over 350,000 OptiMate and AccuMate chargers in the UK, picking up multiple awards on the way.

Because TecMate have specialised 100% in “smart” charger technology for nearly 2 decades, their products feature the latest technology and unsurpassed quality of both design and production. Their products are sold in over 50 countries and they supply some of the best known major vehicle manufacturers in the world. Track records don’t come much better than theirs. Battery charging is assumed by many to be a simple and uncomplicated process. The reality could not be further from this. Not only have batteries evolved over the last 20 years into many differing technologies, the requirements put on them have increased massively. On top of the differing types of battery construction and size of battery, each and every battery has had a different history and is therefore unique. The range of battery types and conditions that chargers have to deal with is therefore vast. OptiMate and AccuMate chargers are designed to cope with a myriad of different possible battery conditions and assess, recover, charge, maintain and monitor the battery perfectly, over many months if necessary, and to do this entirely automatically with no user input required.

OptiMate history: Originally there was just one “OptiMate” aimed at the motorcycle and powersports markets but eventually finding uses in all sorts of standby and deep-cycle applications. Starting with the first OptiMate in 1995, this evolved into OptiMate II, then OptiMate III, then OptiMate IIIsp, then OptiMate 4 and now OptiMate 4 Dual Program. Every new version incorporated significant improvements in technology. In parallel to the retail OptiMate, there are also the professional chargers branded as OptiMate PRO, aimed at battery resellers and dealer workshops, and the AccuMate range aimed at higher current applications like automotive and commercial vehicles.  In 2009, the decision was taken to expand the OptiMate range to cover numerous applications and battery sizes, resulting in the new OptiMate 6, bringing the renowned OptiMate charging algorithm to markets other than those with motorcycle-sized batteries. OptiMate 6 is the first retail OptiMate to incorporate TecMate’s ampmatic microprocessor controlled charge system.  Every seasonally used classic car, boat or motorhome with batteries up to 240 Ah can now benefit from OptiMate technology.
