  • BULK - constant current charging;
  • ABSORB - constant voltage charging;
  • MAINTAIN - (charge completed) float charging for long term maintenance.

Temperature regulated charging - An ambient temperature sensor plugs in at the rear of the housing to vary the output voltage parameters by -4mV /°C (-2.2MV /'F) per cell away from the 20 °C norm. Unplugging this sensor sets the voltage parameters to the default (20°C) settings.

The standard ambient temperature sensor can be replaced by an optional plug-in 2M (6' 6") long external temperature probe for taping on to the battery casing for more accurate automatic charging voltage management.

 

Classic 3-stage <> charging algorithm – (24V values)

  • Constant current "bulk" charge until the voltage has risen to 14.4V (28.8V) at 20'C.
  • 14.4V (28.8V) absorption stage until the charge current falls to 0,17 x full charge current.
  • Maintenance / Float mode voltage limited at 13.7V (27.4V). Should the battery being maintained at any stage require current exceeding 0.17 x full charge current, the program reverts to the absorption stage. The battery can then draw current as required until this again reduces to 0.17 x full charge current, whereupon the float mode will again engage.
